CCA Requirement Estimator
Estimate cold cranking amps based on engine size and climate.
Estimate Your CCA Range
How This Estimate Works
We convert your engine size to cubic inches and apply a baseline of roughly 1 CCA per cubic inch for gasoline engines. Then we scale the result for climate to help with cold starts.
- Mild climates: Baseline CCA is usually enough.
- Cold climates: 10% extra helps offset slower chemistry.
- Very cold climates: 20% extra is common for reliable cranking.
Tips Before Buying
- Match group size and terminals: Use the battery group size finder to confirm fit.
- Never downgrade: If the OE spec is higher, follow it.
- Check reserve capacity: RC matters if you drive short trips or sit overnight in cold weather.
